Sewer Line Repair in Northeast Kansas
Busted or root-clogged sewer lines found and repaired with the least digging we can get away with.
Sewer line repair is fixing a line that's broken, clogged, or root-invaded without replacing the whole run — finding the spot that failed, digging it up, and fixing just that section. It's the call you make when the drains are slow or backing up and the problem is in one part of the line, not the whole thing.
The first step is finding the failure. A slow drain or a backup can be a clog, a root ball in the line, a broken joint, or a collapsed section. Your plumber can run a camera to find the spot, or we can dig to the likely failure and find it that way. Once we know where it is and what it is, we dig the section, fix it, and backfill.
A repair can be a clean fix or it can turn into a replacement. If the line is PVC and one joint failed, we dig that joint and re-glue it. If the line is old clay tile and the roots are through every joint, a spot fix won't hold — the whole run needs to come out. We tell you what we find and whether a repair will last or whether you're patching a line that's done.
Roots are the most common sewer line killer in older lines. Tree roots find the joints in clay tile, grow into the line, and catch solids until the line clogs. The fix is cutting the roots and either patching that joint or replacing the section. If the tree's still there the roots come back, so we talk through the options — line replacement, root pruning on a schedule, or removing the tree.
What runs the cost is how hard the failure is to find, how deep it is, whether it's under a finished yard or a drive, and whether it's a repair or a section replacement. A shallow spot fix in open ground is quick. A deep failure under a drive is more. We look at the line and tell you what the fix takes.
If your drains are backing up or you've got a slow line, call us. We'll come look at where the failure is, dig it up, and fix it — or tell you straight if the line is past a repair and needs to come out.
What affects the cost
We don't quote a number without seeing the ground. These are the things that change what a job takes — call us and we'll give you a real answer for your place.
- How deep the failure is and how hard it is to find
- Whether it's under open ground, a finished yard, or a drive
- Whether it's a spot repair or a section replacement
- The existing pipe material — PVC patches, clay tile usually needs replacing
- Locates and the coordination with your plumber on the pipe work
What to have ready before you call
- What you're seeing — slow drains, backups, gurgling, smell
- Where you think the problem is, if you know
- The age and the material of the line, if you know it
- Whether a plumber has run a camera or located the failure
- What's over the line — lawn, landscaping, or a drive
What happens on the day
We find the failure — dig to it if it hasn't been located, or open where your plumber marked it. We expose the broken section and fix it, or replace the section that's failed. Your plumber handles the pipe work and the tie-ins. We backfill in lifts, compact under any drive, and shape the surface so the yard or the lane doesn't show the dig. We clean up.
