Septic System Repair and Replacement in Northeast Kansas
Backing up, soggy above the field, or a tank that won't hold? We find the failure and fix or replace it.
Septic system repair and replacement is what you need when the system that's been quietly working for years stops working — the drains back up, the ground above the field turns soggy and green, the toilet gurgles, or you get a smell by the tank. Most septic problems come from one of three places: the tank, the line from the house, or the lateral field. We find the failure and fix it or replace it.
The first thing we do is figure out what failed. A backup in the house can be a clog in the line, a full tank that needs pumping, or a failed field that can't take the water. A soggy, smelly patch over the field means the field isn't percolating — often because the soil has sealed up, the lines are clogged, or the water table has risen. We diagnose before we dig, because guessing at a septic failure gets expensive.
A repair can be small or it can be a full replacement. If a line is clogged or broken, we dig it up and fix it. If the tank is cracked or the baffles are gone, we can replace the tank. If the field has failed, the question is whether it can be rehabilitated or whether it has to be replaced — and a failed field usually has to be replaced, often with a new field in a different spot because the old soil is done.
Replacement is a bigger job. If the field has to go in a new location, we need room on the property and we need the county to approve the new system, same as a new install. The soil evaluation matters here too — the new field has to work in the soil it's going into. We handle the dig, the install, and the coordination with the county.
What runs the cost is what failed. A broken line is a quick dig. A tank replacement is more. A full field replacement in a new spot is a new septic system, sized to the house and the soil, with a permit and an inspection. We tell you what we find and what the fix takes before we start cutting.
If your system is backing up or the field is soggy, call us — we'll tell you straight away when we can be there. We answer the phone during business hours and get back to every message the same working day. We'll come look at the system, find the failure, and give you a real answer on what it takes to fix it.
What affects the cost
We don't quote a number without seeing the ground. These are the things that change what a job takes — call us and we'll give you a real answer for your place.
- What actually failed — the line, the tank, or the field
- Whether the fix is a repair or a full field replacement
- If the field is replaced, whether it can go in the same spot or needs a new location
- Soil type and whether the new field needs to be a different type (mound, etc.)
- The county permit, the soil evaluation, and the inspection for a replacement
What to have ready before you call
- What you're seeing — backups, soggy ground, smell, gurgling
- When it started and whether it's getting worse
- The age of the system and when it was last pumped
- Where the tank and the field are on the property
- Which county you're in, in case the repair needs a permit
What happens on the day
We come out and diagnose the system — open the tank, check the line, walk the field, find the failure. We tell you what's wrong and what the fix takes. If it's a repair we dig the bad section and fix it. If it's a replacement we dig out the failed field, install the new system to the county-approved design, and get the inspection. We backfill, shape the grade, and clean up. We walk you through what we found and how to keep it from happening again.
